Imagine the following scenario: Your roommate asks you to wake him up at 7:00 am. When you do, he says with a grunt, "Thanks, I'm up." Five minutes later, you see he's sound asleep again. You shake him again, "Get up! You asked me to wake you at 7:00." Half-opening his eyes, he says, "Yeah, yeah, soon, thanks." and drops right back into a deep sleep.
